Towards the end of nineteen hundred sixties, a group of elites in Bail-hongal and Bailhongal Taluka thought of ways they could participate in a noble task of extending higher educational   facilities to the people of this region which was educationally and socially backward.   This group decided to form an educational society and formed one such in 1968 and named it after Rani Channamma as Kittur Rani Channamma Education Society, Bailhongal. Shri S.R.Kanti Hon’ble Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, the then Mysore Govt. was the Founder President, under whose able guidance, the society started functioning. The great seers – His Holiness Sri.Sri. Duradundeshwar Mahant Swamiji of Murgod and His Holiness Sri. Sri. Shivabasava Maha Swamiji of Naganur extended their benevolent blessings for the steady growth of the society.

            People at large enthusiastically came forward with helping hand to develop this society. Shrimanth B.B.Inamadar along with Shrimanth Devendrappa Linganagouda Inamadar and his sons of Khodanpur jointly donated acres of prime land to K.R.C.E.Society. Public institutions of this area also extended their co-operation and full support to the society in carrying out its noble mission. Town Municipality of Bailhongal leased part of its high school building to run the college; Agriculture Produce Market Committee and Taluka Development Board have generously contributed to the cause of society. An immense public contribution in the form of donations is worth remembering.   

           As a first endeavour, K.R.C.E.Society established Arts and Science College at Bailhongal in the year 1968. For fulfilling the rigorous task generous donations were collected from the public. Mention must be made of generous donations given by Sri G.V.Deshnur, an industrialist, Sri S.V.Sadhunavar, landlord of Amatur and Shri Sankanagoudaru S.Patil of Devalapur. Hence, the college is renamed as G.G.Deshnur Arts, B.M. Patil Commerce as S.V.Sadhunavar Science College, Bailhogal.

           After the establishment of Arts and Science College, the Society took great paints to recruit well-qualified staff and to make available all possible facilities to the students. Within a few years G.G.Deshnur Arts, B.M. Patil Commerce and S.V.Sadhunavar Science College gained enormous goodwill as provider of quality education and the enrolment of students increased considerably.

           In the year 1980 college was shifted to the new campus by the side of Bailhongal- Belgaum road within as easy reach of Bailhongal Town precincts. The Government at nominal rate contributed part of this land. Sri.Veerendra Patil, Hon’ble Chief Minister the then Mysore Govt., laid the foundation stone for the construction of college building. The Arts, Commerce and Science College is the premier institution that imparted quality education to the aspirants. Many new course were introduced for the benefit of students of this region. Expansion activities gained momentum during 1980’s and under able and exemplary leadership of  Shri S.H.Koujalagi Ex-MP and The Chairman of the Society. Dr. Vishwanath Patil assumed of the chairman in the year 2007. Under his leadership various institutions are functioning to impart different event branches of knowledge.
