ABOUT COLLEGE

 

             A group of elites in Bailhongal and Bailhongal talluk thought of ways they could participate in a noble task of extending higher educational facilities to the people of this region which was educationally and socially backward. This group decided to form an educational society and formed one such in 1968 and named it after Rani Channamma as Kittur Rani Channamma Education Sociey, Bailhongal. Shri S.R.Khanti, Honorable minister for Law and parliamentary Affairs the then Mysore Government was the Founder president,

             As a first endeavour, KRCE Society established Arts and Science college at Bailhongal on 20/06/1968.    In the year 1980 college was shifted to the new campus of 15acres area by the side of Bailhongal-Belagavi road within an easy reach of Bailhongal Town precincts.

             The Department of commerce was started in June 1972 at PU Level. Later  on B.Com was introduced in June 1981.Over the period the department has made intensive efforts to improve the course of education in commerce. In the year 1997, our management started B.B.A, UG course to impart knowledge and skill  necessary for administration and  management of business and trade. The management took initiation for commencement of Post Graduate Course (M.Com) in commerce to give scope to get higher education to all our rural students in July 2014.

             The National Assessment and Accreditation Council visited our institution in the month of Sept 2004 & 2011 and  the Peer Team satisfied with the overall progress and infrastructure of our institution have accredited at ‘B+’ and B level to our college respectively.

             Teacher is an important entity in the learning process. We have 22 permanent and 23 temporary/regular teachers, six of our staff have been awarded Ph.D degree while nine  are the M.Phil degree holders.

             The Internal Quality Assurance Cell is acting as the medium through which quality initiations have been sustained. It has inspired stake holders to come out with sustainable practices which strength then the institutions image and give a new meaning and purpose for its existence.

Library

             The college has  well equipped library consisting of nearly 43758 Volumes as its shelves and variety subjects. The library is kept open from 9:00am to 5:30pm on all working days INFLIBNET is also adopted .We have provided wellequipped gymnasium for the benefit of students.

             College offers UGC sponsored COP in Computer and Practical Accounting. Students friendly ambience, committed and involved alumni and their help and guidance have been strength to our students to reach their destiny of learning.

             The nomination of student secretaries to Cultural Association, Gymkhana Departments, Library Committee, Women Empowerment etc on the basis of merit and achievements in sports and extracurricular activities has acted as the motivating factor for achieving excellence. Hence the institution intends to move from glorious past to fruitful future. The strength of our institution is qualified dedicated and committed teachers staff who are working round the clock for all round development of the students. Some of the faculty members are also actively involved in research , Dr. Y. G. Baligatti & Dr. S. M. Lokapur are the recognized guides of Rani Channamma University. The subject of commerce and kannada respectively.  Students have demonstrated  extra- ordinary achievements in academic field. Miss Gangamma Patil has secured 6^th rank in B.Com from Rani Channamma University Belagavi during the year 2014-15. It is worth remembering to note that 3 Cadets of our college U/O A.V. Aravattagi, Manjunath Uppin & Mouddin Kittur have participated in Republic Day Parade held at New Delhi.  The students of our college have also excelled in sports activities and adjudged as university Blues which as under adjudged as University Blues.
